Wimmer Werk Motorsport’s debut in the TCR European Endurance had already made 2025 a season to remember. The Austrian outfit, run by brothers Max and Felix Wimmer, claimed both the overall title with Eric Scalvini and Salvatore Tavano and the DSG title with Senna Summerbell in its first season in the series, immediately confirming the competitiveness of a project built on experience gained also in national TCR championships.
For 2026, Wimmer Werk Motorsport has chosen to further strengthen its commitment to the Sequential category, expanding its programme to two cars as it bids to defend the overall title. Alongside the confirmed line-up of Eric Scalvini and Salvatore Tavano, who continue with the Cupra Leon VZ already used last season, the Austrian team has added a second car entrusted to the young pairing of Aaron Klug and Maximilian Kochendörfer, who made their first move to sequential racing at the Slovakiaring.
The decision to retain the Leon VZ for Scalvini and Tavano represents continuity for a project that already took Wimmer Werk to the top in 2025. The car, the latest model in Cupra’s range and also a protagonist in the FIA TCR World Tour, was named WSC’s TCR Model of the Year 2025, further underlining its competitiveness on the international stage.
Klug and Kochendörfer, both part of the Driving Program by Wimmer Werk and having made their first appearance of the season with a Cupra TCR DSG, stepped up to the top category at the Slovakiaring, immediately showing strong potential. Making their debut with the sequential car, Klug and Kochendörfer secured third place in the Leon Competición, completing a double podium for the Austrian outfit and proving that they can be much more than a second-string entry.
Running two crews in the Sequential category therefore increases Wimmer Werk Motorsport’s options and strengthens its team effort in the second half of the championship. On one side is the experience and title defence of Scalvini and Tavano, supported by the Leon VZ; on the other, the enthusiasm and potential of Klug and Kochendörfer, who have already shown their ability to fight at the front with the previous version of the car. This two-pronged approach gives the Austrian team two strong opportunities to score points and results in its title bid.
The Slovakiaring success also moved Wimmer Werk to 82 points in the Teams’ standings, behind BF Motorsport and TEXACO Team AMS, on 120 and 117 points respectively. The Drivers’ standings are even more intriguing, with Scalvini and Tavano significantly reducing the gap to leaders Alessandro Lisi and Alessandro Berton, who have moved to 122 points, while the Italian duo representing Wimmer Werk sit on 82. With two more rounds still to come, the reigning champions’ comeback is therefore far from over.
The second half of the season is shaping up to be particularly interesting for Wimmer Werk Motorsport, which will aim to build on the progress shown in Slovakia and make the most of having two crews competing in the Sequential category. The next round will take place at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, where the TCR European Endurance will return to action on 27 September alongside the GTC Endurance Challenge.
