For the race in Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Wimmer Werk Motorsport will expand its presence on the grid by entering a Cupra Leon Competición for Günther Wiesmeier and Daniel Lemmerhofer, two drivers with extensive experience alongside Max and Felix Wimmer’s team.
For neither driver will this be a debut at the wheel of a car run by the Austrian outfit. Wiesmeier and Lemmerhofer have built a long-standing relationship with the team over the years, gaining experience in both touring car competitions and international racing. In 2021, both were Wimmer Werk representatives in the FIA Swift Cup Europe, while in 2023 they shared a Cupra Leon Competición TCR in the CEZ Circuit Endurance, finishing third in the TC3.5 class Drivers’ standings.
Wiesmeier’s history with Wimmer Werk also includes an appearance at the 2017 Silverstone 24 Hours, where the Austrian shared a Seat Leon TCR V2 DSG with Felix Wimmer, Christoph Windischberger, Michael Gasser and Michael Kaiser, bringing the car home fourth overall among the TCR entries. Lemmerhofer, meanwhile, was involved with the Austrian outfit’s activities for several years, also competing in the Suzuki Motorsport Cup and further strengthening his established relationship with the team.
The addition of the new pairing forms part of Wimmer Werk Motorsport’s wider 2026 programme in the TCR European Endurance. As already announced, the team has chosen to strengthen its commitment to the TCR Sequential class: alongside the Cupra Leon VZ of reigning champions Eric Scalvini and Salvatore Tavano, the team has added the Cupra Leon Competición of Aaron Klug and Maximilian Kochendörfer, who made a strong debut with the sequential gearbox at the Slovakiaring, finishing third.
The presence of Wiesmeier and Lemmerhofer in Valencia therefore adds another crew to Wimmer Werk’s endurance programme, confirming the Austrian outfit’s intention to make the most of the Spanish round by expanding its presence on the TCR European Endurance grid and putting an already proven pairing at the team’s disposal.
The next round will take place on 27 September at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, the third round of the 2026 season and the TCR European Endurance’s first visit to the Spanish circuit. The race will also represent the penultimate round of the season ahead of the grand finale in Misano on 15 November, and will take place alongside the GTC Endurance Challenge, which will also bring GT4 machinery to the track, including Wimmer Werk Motorsport’s Porsche 718 Cayman.
