Eric Scalvini and Salvatore Tavano returned to winning ways in the TCR European Endurance, claiming their first victory of the season at the Slovakiaring and giving a major boost to the title ambitions of the Wimmer Werk Motorsport pairing. After retiring at Vallelunga, the reigning champions responded in the best possible way, delivering a flawless performance and putting themselves firmly back in contention for the 2026 title.
At the Slovak circuit, Scalvini and Tavano set the pace from the very beginning of the weekend, topping every session of the event. The Italian duo were fastest in qualifying—earning the first points of the weekend and backing up the pole position they had secured at Vallelunga—as well as in both Stages, collecting the maximum available points after dominating the weekend from start to finish. Their performance also confirmed the high level of competitiveness of the Cupra Leon VZ entered by Wimmer Werk Motorsport, as well as the excellent chemistry between the two Italian drivers and the team led by brothers Max and Felix Wimmer.
The victory also carries special significance for the Austrian squad, as it was at the Slovakiaring that the team claimed its maiden overall victory in the TCR European Endurance last season, on that occasion with the DSG-equipped car after a rain-affected weekend.
Thanks to the 75 points scored over the weekend, Scalvini and Tavano move up to 82 points in the standings for sequential-gearbox cars, recovering from the scoreless weekend at Vallelunga and firmly rejoining the championship battle.
The standings remain extremely close. Alessandro Lisi and Alessandro Berton lead the championship with 122 points, followed by Vedat Ali Dalokay and Sinan Çiftçi on 115, while the Wimmer Werk Motorsport pairing has significantly reduced the gap thanks to its victory in Slovakia. With plenty of points still available during the second half of the season, the win provides a major confidence boost for the reigning champions as they aim to defend the title they won in 2025.
Wimmer Werk Motorsport has also strengthened its position in the Teams’ Championship, moving up to 82 points and confirming itself as one of the benchmark teams in the category. The dominant display at the Slovakiaring sends a strong message ahead of the next rounds of the TCR European Endurance, beginning with the third event of the season at Valencia on 26–27 September, alongside the GTC Endurance Challenge.
