With the 2024 season right around the corner, another team has expressed their interest in joining the TCR European Endurance grid this year. Faro Racing is indeed keen on taking part in the new series promoted by Mauricio Slaviero with two cars, one of them being a Volkswagen Golf DSG. The team is showing great interest in the championship, and it is now working on finalizing their entry for the 2024 season.
The Italian outfit is no stranger to the TCR scene, having competed in important championships such as TCR Italy in 2021; moreover, Faro Racing recently finished second in the DGS class in a two-hour race around Magione in the Coppa Italia Endurance last November. The team has also enjoyed success in the Clio Cup series; after winning the 2018 & 2022 drivers’ and 2020 teams’ championships in Clio Cup Italia and finishing second the following year, the Italians also competed at the European level in 2023, taking two wins in the Challengers Cup category and scoring various top five finishes in the overall Clio Cup Europe standings.
The opening season of the TCR European Endurance is set to start in Hungary, with the new Balaton Park Circuit hosting the first round of the championship on April 28th. The series will then set foot on Italian soil – racing around Vallelunga on May 19th and in Misano on June 22nd – whereas the final race weekend of the season will be held at the Slovakiaring on August 25th. Each round will feature a two-hour event that will be split into two one-hour races, with the final standings created by combining the results of the two parts.
Mauricio Slaviero, Promoter TCR European Endurance
“I’m excited that a team such as Faro Racing is expressing their interest in joining the TCR European Endurance grid this year. They have been taking home impressive results in recent years, and it is encouraging for us to see teams of this caliber being attracted to our championship. It further proves that we are offering a product that is exciting for both teams and drivers to join, and we can’t wait for the season to start.”
Fabrizio Tablò, Faro Racing Team Manager
“Racing in a competitive environment has always been dear to our hearts here at Faro Racing, and the TCR European Endurance may just be what we need for the 2024 season. It offers a competitive environment and its enticing format will for sure give everyone a chance to compete for important results, therefore we would like to join the series with a potentially three-car effort. We are currently looking on the drivers’ market to understand which options are available to us, and we are excited to see what this championship can bring to the TCR scene.”
