Double success for Seda Kaçan in Balaton

It was a season debut to remember for Seda Kaçan around the Balaton Park Circuit. In only her second international event on the TCR scene, the 31-year-old was victorious in the DSG class together with Ibrahim Okyay – as well as taking the win in the Ladies Trophy in the series promoted by Mauricio Slaviero.

The Turk began her motorsport career in the 2022 Turkish Racetrack Championship, gaining a lot of experience before challenging for the title the following season – eventually settling for second place. Her International debut in TCR Italy’s final round of the 2023 season was a testament to her talent, as she stepped on the DSG class podium in both races she entered. Thanks to these promising results, TEXACO Team AMS decided to give Kaçan the chance to partake in the first ever TCR European Endurance season, pairing up with Ibrahim Okyay with an Audi RS3 DSG – the same car she drove in 2023.

The Turkish duo already made history in qualifying by putting a DSG car on the front row of the grid, with Kaçan setting the second fastest lap time in her session. During the race, the TEXACO Team AMS pair of Kaçan/Okyay was able to run consistently in second place, before briefly leading stage 1 after a brilliant strategy call by the team – yet another historic feat. In the end, Kaçan and her teammate came across the finish line in second place in the overall standings, though crucially taking the win in the DSG class. Not only that, she also triumphed in the Ladies trophy, making her one of the most decorated drivers after the opening race of the season.

After a great debut performance in TCR European Endurance, Kaçan will be back for more in Vallelunga, with round two of the season scheduled to take place on May 19th.

Seda Kaçan, TEXACO Team AMS
“This is the first time that I’m racing in an endurance format, so it’s a totally new format and I really like it, I do enjoy endurance racing. I’m honoured to be a famous woman in the TCR world, but I hope I can see lots of women in this series as well. I hope we will be competitive in this series and compared to other cars, so let’s see what will happen in Vallelunga next.”
