Turgut Konukoǧlu is the highest-ranked TCR European Endurance driver in the TCR World Ranking

After the inaugural round of the 2024 TCR European Endurance season, the drivers who made history during the opening race of the series promoted by Mauricio Slaviero have been on the move in the TCR World Ranking – the standings reflecting the results obtained by drivers across the various TCR championship around the world.

Thanks to their win in round one around the Balaton Park Circuit, Turgut Konukoǧlu and Eric Brigliadori were on the rise. On one hand, the Turk was able to climb 19 positions up to 120th in the standings, being the highest-ranked driver in TCR European Endurance; Brigliadori was also able to move back into the top 300 after gaining 30 spots.

It wasn’t the end of the weekend that both Attila Bucsi and Martin Kadlečík hoped for, with both drivers retiring from the opening race of the season; still, the two drivers gained a lot of positions thanks to their results in TCR Eastern Europe. The Hungarian gained short of 100 spots in only his second TCR event, settling in 275th, whereas Kadlečík entered the World Ranking in 419th place.

Despite missing out on the overall podium due to a mistake by his teammate in the first leg of the race, youngster Zekai Özen was able to move up to a career-high 239th position, moving up 8 places thanks to his round one result. Seda Kaçan was also on the move: since making her international debut in the final round of the 2023 TCR Italy season around Imola, she has been steadily climbing the World Ranking, now reaching a personal-best position of #552 – being one of the movers of the week with 84 spots gained. Her teammate, the experienced Ibrahim Okyay, was able to climb 74 spots thanks to his second place finish in TCR European Endurance, his only valid result for the standings, thus settling in 591st position.

Amongst the new entries, a podium finish in their home event for Zsille Motorsport’s Zoltan Barkovics and Balazs Takacs was enough for them to enter the TCR World Ranking in 609th place. Brakim Pinar also took a step forward, moving up to 623rd in the standings after gaining 42 spots.

The next race of TCR European Endurance is scheduled to take place in Vallelunga, with the Italian track hosting round two of the 2024 season on May 19th.
