TCR European Endurance is set to visit Spain for the very first time in the history of the championship, yet another exciting variable in what is an already compelling fight for the title in every class. In the standings reserved to cars with a sequential gearbox, BF Motorsport is currently out in front: despite not winning any of the first two races, the Italian duo of Lisi/Berton (Audi RS3 LMS) has been mighty consistent so far, thus going into the summer break with the championship lead. TEXACO Team AMS will be among their main challengers, with Çiftçi/Dalokay (Audi RS3 LMS) keen to return to the top step of the podium, which they had clinched in Vallelunga. Meanwhile, Wimmer Werk Motorsport is set to bring a three-car operation to the starting blocks, thus adding a new challenger to the grid. Reigning champions Scalvini/Tavano (Cupra Leon VZ) will be joined by the brand new pair of Wiesmeier/Lemmerhofer (Cupra Leon Competicion) in the sequential class, as the latter pair is set to make its TCR European Endurance debut after years of international racing experience within the team.
The Austrian outfit’s third car will instead race in the DSG class, as Kochendorfer/Klug (Cupra Leon DSG) rejoin the category after racing in the sequential class at the Slovakiaring. All eyes will be on Casals Motorsport, as Palanti/Carinci (Audi RS3 DSG) come to Valencia with the DSG championship lead. However, the gap over their rivals is slim: notably, the two Brothers In Arms Cupras are within reaching distance. The entries of Caso/Locatelli and Serratore/Argenti secured a stunning one-two finish back in Vallelunga, and will be looking to get back to the podium in Valencia. Joining the DSG grid for the very first time this season is TEXACO Team AMS, as the team fields and Audi RS3 DSG driven by new entry Melih Söylemez and championship veteran Ibrahim Okyay, who is the 2024 DSG champion and last year’s Gen-1 winner. Speaking of the Gen-1 class, the Turkish outfit will also be represented in that category by Kalpaklıoğlu/Göktaş (Audi RS3 Gen-1), who so far have won both races in that class.
The schedule for the upcoming weekend sees drivers hit the track as per usual on Friday 25 September, with two 40-minute free practice sessions scheduled at 14:00 and 16:35 local time. Qualifying will instead take place on Saturday 26 September, with the two session lasting 15 minutes each set to begin at 11:55 and 12:20 local time respectively. Later the same day, Stage-1 begins at 15:05 local time, while Stage-2 will take place on Sunday 27 September at 9:10 local time. Both stages will be broadcast live on TCR TV and GO-TV’s official YouTube channels with Daniele Spadi providing commentary.
