Vallelunga, Race Final: clean sweep for Scalvini/Tavano (Cupra Leon Competicion)

A flawless performance from Scalvini/Tavano (Cupra Leon Competicion) handed them victory for round three of the 2025 TCR European Endurance season in Vallelunga. The Wimmer Werk Motorsport pair was able to win Stage-2, as well as claiming the overall victory around the Roman racetrack, thanks to a lights-to-flag display in the second stage of the day. This marks the team’s second win in a row – the first for the #6 crew – after Senna Summerbell (Cupra Leon DSG) won at the Slovakiaring.

The start of Stage-2 was pushed back due to delays experienced during the FX Racing Weekend. When the second stage started, Salvatore Tavano kept the lead, while Yuri Brigliadori jumped Viktor Davidovski for second. Gen-1 leader Ibrahim Okyay retained fourth, with Emilio Damante holding fifth place as well as the DSG lead; the other DSG entry for Tuder Motorsport, driven by Luca Giovannoni, quickly rose up to second in class. The rest of the first stint saw Tavano build a 12-second gap over Alcidi and Davidovski, with the latter diving into the pits to hand the car to Néstor Girolami as the pit window opened halfway through the stage. Chris Issa also stopped at the earliest possibility, as Senna Summerbell tried to mount the charge for his third consecutive DSG win.

The pit lane became busy as both Tuder Motorsport entires came in for their mandatory pit stop: Damante gave the DSG lead to his teammate Edoardo Maccari, while Giovannoni let Davide Rosini take over the wheel of his car. Okyay also pitted on the same lap, giving his Audi RS3 DSG to Sinan Çiftçi. Eventually, the two leading drivers pitted, too, with Yuri Brigliadori stepping in to relieve Alcidi of his driving duties, while Tavano followed suit a lap later to make room for Eric Scalvini. In the second stint, Girolami began making inroads on Scalvini, though the latter quickly found his pace to match the Argentinian’s times; Girolami was able to cut the gap to just five seconds, and yet, the Italian held on to his lead in the final few laps.

Scalvini/Tavano were therefore able to take the victory in Stage-2, as Davidovksi/Girolami (Hyundai Elantra N) had to settle for second, just 4.270s behind. Third place went to Brigliadori/Alcidi (Audi RS3 LMS), thus mirroring the overall podium from the opening stage. The Gen-1 and DSG winners remained unchanged, too: Çiftçi/Okyay (Audi RS3 Gen-1) took the class win in the former, while Damante/Maccari (Audi RS3 DSG) in the latter. Tuder Motorsport was able to complete a fantastic 1-2 in the DSG class, with Rosini/Giovannoni (VW Golf DSG) able to finish in second, as well as in sixth place in the overall standings. Kalpaklıoğlu/Göktaş (Audi RS3 DSG) rounded out the DSG podium, with Summerbell/Issa (Cupra Leon DSG) narrowly missing out.

The overall race classification saw Scalvini/Tavano (Cupra Leon Competicion) take home the win; the two scored the maximum amount of points, too – having claimed pole position and clinching victory in both stages. Davidovksi/Girolami (Hyundai Elantra N) finished second in their TCR European Endurance debut, thus marking the first podium for both BRC Racing Team and the Elantra in the series promoted by Mauricio Slaviero; the overall podium was completed by Brigliadori/Alcidi (Audi RS3 LMS). Fourth place belonged to Gen-1 winners Çiftçi/Okyay (Audi RS3 Gen-1), while Damante/Maccari (Audi RS3 DSG) took their first DSG victory of the season in dominant fashion, thus re-opening the title fight in their category. Behind them, the class podium was rounded out by Kalpaklıoğlu/Göktaş (Audi RS3 DSG) and Summerbell/Issa (Cupra Leon DSG). After hitting trouble in Stage-1, Rosini/Giovannoni (VW Golf DSG) were able to recover in the second stage, ultimately finishing eighth overall and fourth in the DSG class.

The fourth and final round of the 2025 TCR European Endurance season will take place in Misano, as the Italian circuit hosts the championship finale from November 14th to the 16th. The points awarded during that weekend will be worth 50% more than the ones handed out during the first three; moreover, each team will drop the worst result between the opening three rounds of the season from the standings.
