Round three of the 2025 TCR European Endurance season saw Wimmer Werk Motorsport secure their first pole position in the series, as Scalvini/Tavano (Cupra Leon Competicion) took home first place after the sum of the times from both qualifying sessions. Following a competitive Q1 result, the Italian pair made the difference in the second 15 minutes, thus putting the Cupra on top of the qualifying standings for the first time in the series promoted by Mauricio Slaviero. This will be the second time the German outfit starts ahead of the pack, however, as they had led things off in Stage-2 during the opening round at Mugello.
Qualifying 1 saw Néstor Girolami set the pace early on, before going out on track for one last flying lap in the latter stages: a decision that proved to be correct, as the BRC Racing Team driver improved on his final attempt, thus securing first place thanks to a 1:39.851. Eric Scalvini took second for Wimmer Werk Motorsport, whereas the top-3 was rounded out by Gen-1 leader Sinan Çiftçi. Senna Summerbell retained top spot in the DSG class, securing fourth overall ahead of Davide Rosini by just 0.270s. Championship leader Yuri Brigliadori could not go further than sixth place due to a technical issue, while Berk Kalpaklıoğlu and Edoardo Maccari finished behind him in seventh and eighth respectively.
After a short break, Wimmer Werk Motorsport controlled Qualifying 2 from start to finish, as Salvatore Tavano clocked in the fastest lap of the session with a 1:40.394. This time, BRC Racing Team had to settle for second with Viktor Davidovski behind the wheel, while Ibrahin Okyay went third fastest in the Gen-1 entry prepared by TEXACO Team AMS. Fourth overall and leader of the DSG class was Emilio Damante, with fellow Tuder Motorsport driver Luca Giovannoni in fifth. Umut Göktaş and Chris Issa both made their official qualifying debut in the session as well their maiden championship points, ultimately setting the sixth and seventh fastest lap times respectively. It was not a smooth session for BF Motorsport, as Alessandro Alcidi could not set a flying lap due to an issue related to the driveshaft that had already presented itself during the first session.
The combined results saw Scalvini/Tavano take their maiden overall pole position in the series – a first for Wimmer Werk Motorsport, too. Despite leading in Q1 and setting the overall fastest time across the two sessions, Davidovski/Girolami (Hyundai Elantra N) took second, thus securing a front-row start on their TCR European Endurance debut. Çiftçi/Okyay (Audi RS3 Gen-1) continued their great weekend with third place overall and the Gen-1 lead; fourth, and at the top of the DSG standings, was Tuder Motorsport with Rosini/Giovannoni (VW Golf DSG). TEXACO Team AMS was able to put both cars in the top-5, as Kalpaklıoğlu/Göktaş (Audi RS3 DSG) finished in fifth position, whereas Summerbell/Issa (Cupra Leon DSG) are set to start Stage-1 from sixth place. Seventh place belonged to Damante/Maccari (Audi RS3 LMS) in the second Tuder Motorsport entry, while BF Motorsport will start from eighth on the grid with Brigliadori/Alcidi (Audi RS3 LMS).
The on-track action for Saturday 20th September is not over yet, as Stage-1 is set to begin at 18:35 local time; Sunday 21st September will instead see the green flag for Stage-2 be waived at 14:15 local time. Both stages will last 55 minutes, and they will be broadcast live on TCR TV’s official YouTube channel, with commentary provided by Daniele Spadi.
