The second free practice session in Vallelunga saw BF Motorsport come out on top, as championship leader Yuri Brigliadori and teammate Alessandro Alcidi (Audi RS3 LMS) topped the standings in FP2. After claiming second in the opening free practice session, the Italian duo went quickest in the latter stages, thanks to a 1:41.929 that propelled them to the front of the pack.
Contrary to what happened in FP1, the second session ran smoothly from start to finish with no interruptions; Brigliadori/Alcidi were able to withstand the heat – with the air temperature reaching 30°C during FP2 – to claim top spot. After topping the standings in the first session, Davidovski/Girolami (Hyundai Elantra N) had to settle for second, thus confirming the potential of the car in its first outing in the series promoted by Mauricio Slaviero. The other Elantra scheduled to be on track, the one brought by Renauer Motorsport and Bernhard Stitz, did not partake in any session on Friday. Mirroring their FP1 result, Scalvini/Tavano (Cupra Leon Competicion) took third.
Behind them, Tuder Motorsport was once again the team to beat in the DSG standings: replicating their 1-2 result from the opening session, Damante/Maccari (Audi RS3 DSG) were fourth overall as well as the DSG leaders, with Rosini/Giovannoni (VW Golf DSG) just 19 thousandths of a second behind them. Current DSG championship leader Senna Summerbell, together with teammate Chris Issa (Cupra Leon DSG), took home sixth. After hitting trouble in FP1, Kalpaklıoğlu/Göktaş (Audi RS3 DSG) were able to hit the ground running in the second session, eventually going seventh fastest; on the other hand, Çiftçi/Okyay (Audi RS3 Gen-1) were not able to do so, though they are expected to be back out on track for qualifying tomorrow.
With the action for Friday 19th September now in the books, qualifying will take place on Saturday 20th September, with the two 15-minute sessions happening at 9:00 and 9:50 local time; later the same day, Stage-1 is set to begin at 18:35 local time. Sunday 21st September will instead see the green flag for Stage-2 be waived at 14:15 local time. Both stages will last 55 minutes, and they will be broadcast live on TCR TV’s official YouTube channel, with commentary provided by Daniele Spadi.
