TCR World Ranking Final to use the same format as TCR European Endurance

The 2025 TCR World Ranking Final, the standalone event set to round out the season for all TCR-sanctioned races, has announced its new format. The competition is set to take place in Vallelunga from the 21st to the 23rd of November, introducing a new qualifying race format. The drivers eligible to partake in the TCR World Ranking Final are going to share their car with a guest driver, racing for 55 minutes plus one lap, while having to serve a mandatory pit stop for driver swaps.

This format mirrors the one that TCR European Endurance has used for each of their single stages since the championship launched back in 2024. Such a peculiar event structure has been praised by teams and drivers alike, as it brings a breath of fresh air to the TCR sphere. The established concept of the series promoted by Mauricio Slaviero has produced great battles and unpredictability, while adding a strategic component to an already exciting category.

TCR European Endurance therefore becomes the perfect testing ground for the TCR World Ranking Final – and not just because of the format itself. First, TCR European Endurance also shares a fundamental element with the final TCR event of the season, as both rely on Kumho as their sole tyre provider, giving yet another layer of similarities between the two events. Moreover, the continental series will also give the chance to all drivers to test the format firsthand on the track they’re going to race in the TCR World Ranking Final. In fact, TCR European Endurance is set to visit Vallelunga for round four of its 2025 season from the 19th to the 21st of September, thus making it a fundamental stepping stone for those who will be looking to shine on the Roman racetrack come November.

Mauricio Slaviero, TCR European Endurance Promoter
To see an event such as the TCR World Ranking Final mirror the format we have pioneered last season is a testament to the good work we have been doing so far. Our stage format has always provided plenty of on-track battles, as well as a layer of strategy that has rarely been seen before in TCR competitions. The TCR European Endurance event in Vallelunga on September 21st will give drivers the perfect chance to test such a peculiar format in the exact venue they’re going to race in during the TCR World Ranking Final.”
