The grid for the 2025 TCR European Endurance is growing even more after Renauer Motorsport entered for the next season. The team founded in 1997 by former Formula 3 driver Sepp Renauer will debut the Hyundai Elantra N TCR in the series promoted by Mauricio Slaviero. Furthermore, this is the second model from the Korean manufacturer to compete in at least one race in the TCR European Endurance, after the i30 covered the first kilometers of the past edition.
Renauer Motorsport already boasts milestones in its history, particularly in the world of endurance racing. In fact, it took part in its first international series in 2001, racing in the FIA Sportscar Championship with SR2 class prototypes, in which they achieved their first triumphs in endurance races at Brno.
In 2002, development work began regarding young drivers, specifically with Tim and Eddy Revazov, with the aim of becoming racing drivers starting from scratch. The pair of brothers were involved in various national Formula Renault championships, which was considered a springboard at the time to become professionals, alongside drivers who have written important pages in motorsport such as Romain Grosjean, Pastor Maldonado, Robert Kubica, José Maria López, Alessandro Pier Guidi and Matteo Cressoni.
Renauer Motorsport was even present in the first season of the European Le Mans Series in 2004, whereas the first adventure in touring car competitions is more recent; on board an Elantra N TCR, Renauer Motorsport participated in the Touring Car Open (TCO) in the Histo Cup in 2024. The Austrian team have already had the opportunity to race in some of the locations and circuits that the TCR European Endurance will face in 2025, such as the Pannonia-Ring and the Slovakiaring, where they achieved three podiums. Among other things, a fun fact concerns the son of the founder Sepp, Florian Renauer, who at the age of 16 ran his first car race on the Hungarian track that will host the third round of the 2025 series promoted by Mauricio Slaviero.
Despite its important history, Renauer Motorsport had to face the financial crisis that hit the world economy at the end of the 2000s, by replying with great gumption thanks to the experience gained through the years. For this reason, the TCR European Endurance proved to be an opportunity to seize thanks to the pre-registration period with discounted rates, turning into a new championship to aim for to extend the substantial list of international successes.
